Our 2018 Giuseppina has alluring aromas of citrus, pineapple, butterscotch, and cashews. The finish is long and smooth, allowing the vibrant fruit flavors to shine through.
The Chardonnay grapes for our Giuseppina come from our vineyards in the cool Petaluma Gap within the Sonoma Coast. This area creates ideal growing conditions for Chardonnay as the cool marine winds blow through the low lying hills west of Petaluma to our vineyards facing the Pacific Ocean, tempering the summer heat. This extends the growing
season enabling our grapes to slowly reach full maturity while retaining fresh fruit flavors and vibrant acidity.
Grapes were handpicked, destemmed and pressed quickly to capture flavor and freshness. The juice was transferred to French oak barrels and a concrete egg for fermentation. The juice was allowed to naturally start fermentation to give it a complex aroma and mouthfeel. The wine benefits from 30% new French oak and was aged for 8 months after
fermentation. Malolactic was allowed to enhance the texture and bring a creamy, nutty element to the wine.
