This Pinot Noir has lifted aromatics of cherry, strawberry, hints of dried cranberry with an interesting savory aroma.
Our reserve Pinot Noir is sourced from grapes grown within the Petaluma Gap region of the larger Sonoma Coast AVA of Sonoma County. The Diablo Clays of this site hold water extremely well and require very little irrigation, resulting in very concentrated fruit. Situated on a western facing slope, the vineyard captures all the wind and fog of the Petaluma Gap, allowing the grapes to slowly ripen.
These grapes were handpicked, gently destemmed and transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation. They naturally fermented with no added yeast and temperatures peaked at 90F. The must was pumped over twice a day to extract color and flavor, and the wine was pressed off skins after 14 days. Then the wine was transferred to barrel where it aged for 15 months with 40% new French oak.
