This striking Rosato di Primitivo has bright aromas of strawberries and cream, red berries, and watermelon. The palate has fresh fruit with plenty of watermelon and strawberry packed in and a rich and creamy yet refreshing mouthfeel with a vibrant, lasting flavor on the finish.

Victoria vineyard is located in Contra Costa County near the San Joaquin Delta, inland from the San Francisco Bay. Here the soils comprise mostly sand, are very free-draining, and allow for classically head-trained vines on their own roots. These vines exhibit the classic traits of Primitivo whilst the cool air from the nearby waterways retain acidity and the reflected heat from the sand gives maximum flavor and ripeness.

We pick these grapes at low Brix and to maintain the vibrant acidity we want to see in the final wine. They are hand-harvested first thing in the morning and pressed immediately off their skins to impart only a pale pink hue to the wine and with full flavor and vibrancy. It was settled for four days and then racked off heavy solids and fermented at a cool 55F to retain freshness and flavor. After fermentation, it was racked again and bottled shortly afterward.
